Integrating Lighting and Video Devices: The Catalyst Interfaces
What MIDI control and interfaces can I use with Catalyst?
Catalyst has a couple of Midi related features, depending on your version of Catalyst:
Midi Time Code synchronisation
Midi Show Control preset triggers
To use these features you need a suitable Midi interface. Catalyst theoretically will use any Midi Device that is compatible with Mac OS 10.4.x and/or 10.3.x.
Recommended devices, particularly for Pro and DV media servers, are eMagic’s Unitor 8 MkII, and Midiman’s Midisport 8x8. Both are USB devices and are Mac OS 10.4.x and 10.3.x compatible. These devices, although amongst the more expensive Midi interfaces, they provide plenty of Midi inputs, as well as being able to convert linear time code (LTC) to USB.
