Dichroic Filters

All High End Systems optical thin films are deposited on borosilicate float glass substrates. Borosilicate is superior to other glass substrates due to its enhanced optical and physical properties.

Dichroic filters create only the purest color in their spectrum and will last forever. Dichroics transmit only wanted frequencies, absorbing no unwanted energy which can cause heat buildup and lead to degradation. Since Dichroics reflect out these undesired frequencies, it is a permanent solution to your color needs.

Shown here are samples of our typical dichroic filters. These examples represent only a fraction of our standard colors and the wide range of custom coatings we are capable of producing. We also have a library of color correctors, hotmirrors and UV (Blacklight) filters available, and can engineer custom coatings to fit most any customer requirements.

Coating Performance

 All of the High End Systems dichroic filters exceed the following criteria:

  • MIL-C-48497A- Test for Adhesion. Moderate and Severe abrasion

Substrate Cleaning

Prior to Coating, all substrates are precision cleaned in an automated five-step ultrasonic process. Substrates are transported through each step robotically. This system was custom made to accommodate our 30" substrates and provide us with an exceptional level of substrate cleanliness, which translates to excellent film adhesion and minimizes the occurrence of optical defects.

Coating Facility

Our coating operation consists of the three 96" diameter coating chambers, each capable of coating 6 - 30" Diameter substrates (1.1mm to 6mm thickness). To ensure optimum coating performance and repeatability, coating chambers are outfitted with advanced digital control components, state-of-the-art automation platforms, Ion assisted deposition, and custom optical monitoring software.

Custom Dichroic Filter Sizing

Using state-of-the-art computer-controlled waterjet and scribe/break technology, our Optical Lab is equipped to meet your custom dichroic filter sizing requirements.

Precision: Whether you require simple geometric shapes or more intricate designs, our sizing department is capable of sizing your filters to tolerances of up to +/-.010"
